Hello again, teacher superheroes!

If you’re here, chances are you started your Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) store with one big goal: share your resources while making a little extra income. For many of us, though, it quickly becomes more than a side hustle. The potential is real—but so are the challenges.

Running a TPT store requires wearing hats you may not have signed up for: designer, marketer, SEO expert, and business owner.
It’s a lot. But with the right strategies in place, you can move from scattered efforts to steady growth.
Let’s walk through five areas where you can take small, intentional steps that make a big difference.

1. Stop Guessing and Start With a Plan

Most sellers upload resources without thinking through the bigger picture. The result? Lots of effort, not much traction.

Action Step: Before creating your next resource, sketch out a simple 90-day plan. Pick one product line or unit theme to focus on. This gives you a clear direction and helps you build collections buyers are more likely to purchase together.

2. Nail Your Product Listings

Even great resources can go unnoticed if your covers, previews, and descriptions don’t pull people in. Think of your listing as your storefront window—it should invite buyers to look closer.

Action Step: Pick your current best-seller and update just the first sentence of the description. Make it teacher-focused: call out the problem it solves instead of just describing the resource. This small tweak can increase conversions immediately.

3. Learn How to Work With (Not Against) the Algorithm

If buyers can’t find your products, they can’t purchase them. Keywords and SEO matter, but most sellers either ignore them or stuff them in awkwardly.

Action Step: Look at the top three sellers in your niche. Write down the keywords they repeat in their titles and descriptions. Use one of those naturally in your next product title—don’t copy, just adapt.

4. Marketing Beyond TPT

Relying only on TPT search is like teaching without lesson plans—you’re leaving too much to chance. Building your own audience creates a steady flow of traffic and repeat buyers.

Action Step: Start an email list if you don’t have one. For now, just create a simple opt-in freebie that ties to your best-selling resource. You don’t need a huge funnel yet—just a way to connect directly with teachers outside of TPT.

5. Clarity on What to Do Next

With so many options—new products, Pinterest, Instagram, previews, covers—it’s easy to waste time on things that don’t move the needle.

Action Step: Each Sunday evening, write down your top three priorities for the coming week. Circle the one that will most directly affect sales. Start with that task first before doing anything else.

Why Work With a TPT Business Coach?

You can piece these steps together on your own, but it’s hard to know which ones will give you the biggest return right now. Working with me as your TPT growth expert, TPT store consultant, and Teachers Pay Teachers business consultant means you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

I don’t just offer consultation calls—I also work with teacherpreneurs through phone calls, ongoing email support, and tailored coaching sessions. Depending on your needs, I can teach you how to implement these strategies yourself or I can step in and do the work for you—whether that’s redesigning your covers, fixing your SEO, or polishing your previews.

In 30 minutes, we can:
  • Identify the most profitable next step for your store
  • Review what’s working and what’s not
  • Create a simple action plan you can put into place immediately

And if you want continued support beyond that first call, I’m here to help you every step of the way.
